Dr. Cynthia Bayless Barton - Veterinarian

Dr. Cynthia Bayless Barton graduated in 1993 from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's in Chemistry and then from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.

Growing up in a coal mining town in southeastern Kentucky, she wasn’t around a lot of large animals but would bring home as many kittens as she could get. The problem was getting her parents to let her keep them.

During her junior year at Auburn, she developed an interest in large animals and decided to take a job in a mixed animal practice in Madison, Georgia. Easily persuaded after 13 months of sleepless nights on call, Dr. Bayless took a job in a small animal practice in Green Cove Springs, Florida, and part-time at Clay Duval Pet Emergency Center.

After about 10 years, she went full time at Affiliated Veterinary Emergency Center in Jacksonville and North Florida Veterinary Specialists. For the past 6 years, she has been working as a relief Veterinarian in Orange Park, Jacksonville, and Ponte Vedra. Over all the years of practicing, she has loved it all but especially loves working on internal medicine cases and emergency medicine.

Outside of work, camping (or more precisely “Glamping”), hiking (when forced by her husband), reading, and just doing “nerdy” things are what keep her busy.
